When burned-out nurse Clara Kirkwood flees to Florida for Christmas to avoid her family after she had to call off her wedding, she only wants solitude. Once she meets widower Hank Sullivan who also needed to take a break from a well-meaning family, and his adorable boy-and-girl twins, her solitude floats away with the tide. Facing loneliness and pain from her breakup, she can see Hank is still grieving the loss of his wife. As they get to know each other and spend time together, they both begin to see a future together rather than being alone if they can't get past the pain that brought them to Palm Tree Beach.
